Big Girl!!

Today was Parker's one year checkup with our pediatrician. She weighed in at 20lb. 8.5oz. and measured 30 inches tall! She's getting so big. She is almost exactly the same size I was when I was one- I was 19lb. 14oz. and 30 inches. Parker's head continues to measure in the 80th percentile, while her weight is 50th and height near the 75th. She also got three shots today- she was such a big girl and only cried a little bit.

Parker continues to do well with therapy. We are currently seeing Susan for PT once a week, and Terri for OT immediately after. In PT, we are working on Parker's balance and lateral weight shifting so that she gets ready to walk. We are also working on climbing- which is not Mommy's favorite thing Sue Sue is teaching Parker- but Parker really enjoys it, haha. Susan is trying to get Parker to work on lateral weight shifting to purposefully cruise along furniture. We are also using a push-toy to get her used to taking steps. Her right side continues to be evidently weaker, but it is getting stronger week by week.

In OT, we are STILL trying to get Parker to feed herself and drink from a sippy cup. It amazes and BAFFLES me that the child will put "THINGS" in her mouth- Jackson's toys (yes, I'm talking about our yorkie here, people!), my cell phone, the remote control, her toys, her hands, etc. BUT SHE WILL NOT PUT FOOD IN HER OWN MOUTH!! She is hilarious; she will HOLD the food (cookie, cracker, puff, m&m, whatever) and open her mouth for YOU to feed her. We have gotten her to feed herself a few bites a COUPLE of times, but we're really working hard at this!

All in all, we have had a wonderfully blessed first year with our precious girl, and we are looking forward to many new experiences to come!
